Some Quick Hits Before We Start
I want to share with you a few awesome long-term strategies you should consider taking advantage of ASAP:
- Get enrolled at Ebates—Ebates is a super cool website that pays you whenever you spend money with qualifying retailers. Basically, you’re getting FREE cash for spending that you’re going to do anyway. (Who doesn’t want this?!) Cash back may be up to 10%. Even Amazon clothing, baby stuff, shoes, and furniture offers about 3% to 4% cash back! Using Ebates is a serious no brainer for bringing in some extra dough. They even offer cash back for travel. PLUS you may be eligible to get a FREE $10 bonus after signing up.
- Sign up to start getting paid for your opinion (eeeeeeeasy money)—Survey sites are another no brainer way to earn some extra cash. You won’t get rich overnight, but taking surveys and doing market research may be able to take care of a few small bills to give you some breathing room. These typically do not pay out within 24 hours which is why they haven’t made the list below. This is a long-term deal scenario. Learn more about the different survey options here.
10 Ways to Make Extra Money Within 48 Hours
Sell your stuff. The fastest way to make cash in a pinch is to sell items. This hustle can also potentially make you a good amount of money depending on the type of items you have to sell and the condition. Look through your garage, basement, and attic for extra clothes, shoes, or furniture that you don’t need. Here are sites that you can use to resell your items:
Sell other people’s stuff. Don’t have any of your own stuff to sell? Flipping items that you find at yard sales and thrift stores is another way to make some big cash. My friend Jason who blogs at My Money Chronicles has an Ebay side hustle where he goes to different stores on weekends to find coffee mugs, memorabilia, and other items and resells them for a profit. Here’s 100 things you can sell on Ebay.
Resell electronics. Do you have a pile of old electronics collecting dust in a drawer. You may be able to sell them to a company that refurbishes them or uses them for parts. Gazelle is one of the top sites that will pay you for your used electronics.
Offer a service. This doesn’t have to be some grand business idea. You just need to think of something quickly that people need help with—mowing the lawn, putting out mulch, babysitting, dog sitting, or housesitting. Offering two services at $50 is a simple $100 in your pocket.
Get paid to test websites. UserTesting is an AWESOME website where you can test websites for companies and get paid in cash through PayPal. The sign up process is a simple email account set up and you can start testing. You can get paid up to $60 per test.
Sell plasma. Plasma is the liquid that’s left over after blood cells and other items are taken out of your blood. You may be able to get paid $25 to $60 for a donation and you may be able to donate multiple times per week.
Sell your hair. May sound a little creepy at first, but there are people who are willing to buy hair for wigs. If you have long unprocessed hair, this could be a way to make a nice chunk of change. Check out the website Buyandsellhair.com.
Sell breastmilk. Nursing mothers may be able to make several hundred dollars per month selling breast milk online. Another one that sounds creepy but it is fulfilling a need. Only the Breast is a platform where you can buy and sell breast milk.
Ask for more hours at work. Trust me, don’t sleep on this method. Sometimes your employer or a client doesn’t know that you’re available to work more. Ask for more hours from your current job/part-time job. If you freelance, ask your clients for more work.
Charge scooters. If you live in or around a metro area, think about becoming a person who charges scooters. You know those scooters that are popping up everywhere and being left in random places? Companies pay people to charge these scooters. Bird specifically is a company with workers report the possibility of earning $20 to $30 per hour charging scooters.
Getting into a financial pinch isn’t fun, but there are ways to make a few extra bucks to give you some cushion. Doing a few of these jobs consistently can give you the extra money you need.
